CSU Fall Classic Rollerski Race November 5, 2006 North Andover, Mass. It was a cool, nearly perfect late fall day for the 18th Annual CSU Fall Classic Rollerski Race. This year had the largest turnout in many years and by far the largest turnout of junior skiers ever as several kids came down from NH to join the CSU juniors. The classic race was won by Matt Briggs, (former CSU junior) skiing for Colby in 38:48. He was followed closely by Oliver Burress, (former CSU junior) skiing for Harvard. Nina Gavrylyuk (Gunstock Nordic) was first woman in 44:54 and Jody Newton (CSU) was second. Alex Howe (Gunstock Nordic) decided to ski up and do 2 laps, handily winning the skate race in a course record 30:43 on some rocket rollerskis. Gregory Kolesov was second and Tom Stark (Gunstock Nordic), also skiing up for the 2 lapper, was third. In the 1 lap junior races, Perry Thomas (Windblown Ski Club) took the skate race in 20:39 followed very closely by Hilary Rich (CSU) in 20:42. In the classic race Evan Doucett (CSU) took top honors in 24:01 while Olga Golovkina (CSU) was first female in 25:58. Many thanks to Fast Splits for providing some of the prizes.
